Acknowledged as one of the most traditional whiskies around, Springbank whisky has now joined the Liquidity portfolio and as a result will once again be marketed locally. For years Springbank was extremely difficult to obtain in South Africa – but highly sought after nonetheless.

One of the few remaining Campbeltown distilleries, Springbank belongs to the Mitchell family who have made this spirit since 1828. It remains as true to its origins as possible with everything done on site – from the malting, right the way through to bottling – and by hand too. Many whisky lovers are of the opinion that this attention to detail and refusal to adopt more modern methods is what sets Springbank apart. Whiskies that retailed for R500 a decade ago are often snapped up by collectors for ten times the price for this very reason.

Springbank’s range covers all the bases, offering single malts for the novice to the connoisseur – 10 year old, 12, 15 and an 18 year old. The 12 year old (bottled at cask strength) has previously been judged Whisky of the Year by Whisky Magazine (UK).
Its location on the edge of the Campbeltown Loch on the Kintyre peninsula on Scotland’s west coast means that it is one of those whiskies which boast a light salty tang due to the strong sea breezes which permeate the maturation warehouses.
