On Wednesday 20 April 2022, Cape Town’s Whisky enthusiasts will be able to enjoy over 50 top whiskies, when Whiskyshop.co.za owners Hector Mc Beth and Brett Jacob present ‘The Mini Whisky Festival’ in Cape Town.
Amongst the top whiskies at this exclusive event will be a new entrant to South Africa, the WD O’Connell range of Irish Whiskies. Daithí O’Connell has flown in from Ireland, especially for this event, and will be presenting his Single Grain 10 years old Irish whiskey and his Peated Irish Single malt Bill Phil which just this week won Double Gold and Gold medals respectively at the 2022 San Francisco Spirits Awards. Continuing the theme of award-winning whiskies, we will also be featuring The Glen Scotia 15-year-old, voted best Scottish Single Malt at World Whisky Awards 2022. Paul John was inducted into the Hall of Fame in this year’s awards and fans of this dynamic distiller will have an opportunity to taste the full range of Paul John Indian single malt whiskies. Loch Lomond’s new release peated single grain whisky will also be on show along with some classic Wood finishes from Glen Moray, Nikka Japanese whiskies, and the Orcadian Spirit from Highland Park Distillery to name but a few.

A special feature of this festival will be a Charity table featuring old and rare whiskies at R50 for a taster or R100 for three. The money raised will go to “the UPliftment programme”, an Arts for Health public benefit organization. They professionally train UP individuals and groups to be catalysts of JOY and since starting up in 2003 they have trained UP hundreds of volunteers who share delightful, playful, joyous times with children in hospitals and homes. Minnelie Minnaar one of their JOY ambassadors will be on hand to tell you more on the night.

Chef David Tilly of the TAJ will be curating exquisite canapes for the evening to keep you sustained and there will be a cash bar selling whisky and prosecco cocktails during the evening. An array of prizes will be up for grabs including ‘The Macallan Whisky Experience’ – a private whisky tasting for 15 people!

The ultimate goal of ‘The Mini Whisky Festival’ is to offer fans of the dram “A sophisticated experience, done without any frills and where the ambassadors let the spirits do the talking,” according to Hector McBeth.

The Whiskyshop Mini Whisky Festival is on for one night only, from 18h00 till 21h00, on Wednesday 20 April at The Reserve Taj Hotel, Cape Town.
